Soldat? What is this?
Soldat is a unique side-view multiplayer action game. It takes the best from games like Liero, Worms, Quake and Counter-Strike and gives you fast action gameplay with tons of blood and flesh. Soldiers fight against each other on 2D battle arenas using a deadly military arsenal.
It was made by Michal Marcinkowski back in (need reference). First public beta saw daylight in 09.05.2002 with number 0.9.4b. Michal has promised to release Soldat as open source if he ever stops working on it himself (roughly estimated at around 2008 or later). But after few years of his small activity on Soldat(due to work on other game, KAG) this idea was abandoned, and Soldat was taken over the wings of few community members that work for free to keep this game alive.

Long time ago far, far away from all yours problems, a couple of guys decided to kill each other and you can be one of them.
Gamemodes

Default Controls
- [A] - run left
- [D] - run right
- [W] - jump
- [S] - crouch
- [Left Mouse Button] - fire
- [Right Mouse Button] - fly
- [E] - hold down or release after a while to throw grenade
- [F] - throwaway current weapon
- [X] - go prone position
- [Q] - change weapon to secondary
- [R] - reload weapon
- [T] - chat
- [Tab] - activate/deactivate weapons menu while waiting for respawn
Note: The above keys can be changed in the PLAYER options.
- Tricks
- Flag throwing - Hold jump key + crouch key (default W+S)
- Backflip - Jump backwards and press the fly button
- Backflip in air - If you are making a jump tot the left/right side and keep W pressed, then you can make a backflip in air at any time. e.g (D+W) (W+A+Fly Button) - remember to keep the jump button active

- [F1] - players list with scores
- [F2] - show your weapon statistic for the current round / [ALT + F2] - show/hide sniper line
- [F3] - show/hide the minimap / [ALT + F3] - show performance statistics (FPS, ping, network bandwith)
- [F4] - take screenshot (saves it to Soldat\Screens)
- [F5] - stops/plays music
- [F6] - previous music track
- [F7] - next music track
- [F8] - record/stop demo / fast forward while playing demo
- [F9] - minimize the game
- [F10] - pause game
- [ALT] - + a,b,c... or 1,2,3...0 keys - chat taunts or commands
- [SHIFT] + [+] +10 volume / [SHIFT + [-] - 10 volume
- [ESC] - stops the game and shows the game menu
