===Soldat? What is this?===

Soldat is a unique side-view multiplayer action game. It takes the best from games like Liero, Worms, Quake and Counter-Strike and gives you fast action gameplay with tons of blood and flesh. Soldiers fight against each other on 2D battle arenas using a deadly military arsenal.

It was made by [[Michal Marcinkowski]] back in (need reference). First public beta saw daylight in 09.05.2002 with number 0.9.4b.
Michal has promised to release Soldat as open source if he ever stops working on it himself (roughly estimated at around 2008 or later). But after few years of his small activity on Soldat(due to work on other game, KAG) this idea was abandoned, and Soldat was taken over the wings of few community members that work for free to keep this game alive.

:Backflip in air - If you are making a jump tot the left/right side and keep W pressed, then you can make a backflip in air at any time. e.g (D+W) (W+A+Fly Button) - remember to keep the jump button active

:GunGame Script Version 1.3. The Game mode is from Counter-strike and the idea is not original or in any way mine. How it's played:

You start with a predesignated weapon, say, desert eagles, and you can only use desert eagles. When you kill a person with those desert eagles you get another gun, say, Mp5, and you have to kill someone with that gun to get another gun. Once you have gone through all 14 guns you win, providing you are the first to go through all 14 guns. This script is best played in r/s, but it can be played on pretty much any gamemode.

:Ever felt like your server is overrun by barretards, tubers and campers? I feel your pain, and I got just the right thing to get your server back on track! This script will automatically disable the weapon of your desire for all respawning players if living players of his team already surpass the maximum amount. For example, player A is respawning, and because player B and player C already use a Barret, it will be disabled in player A's menu. He will get a backup weapon instead, which you can choose yourself in the settings file.

Scenery is any image file (BMP, PNG, TGA, or JPEG) used to display various items in maps. These are the trees, bunkers, background images and any miscellaneous objects you see in a map that don't actually interact with the players or other objects (weapons, medikits, etc.).

Sceneries are purely aesthetic part of Soldat, but they can be used in creative ways to alter gameplay. For instance, it can be placed in front of everything to obscure a hiding place or camouflage a player, or it can be used as a signal where colliders are(sandbags, box etc).

Scenery can also be manipulated inside the various Mapping Tools in many ways. The modifications you can make are: dimensions, color, transparency, and rotation, as well as whether the scenery is in front of everything, behind everything, or behind the map but in front of the player.

All soldat sceneries are stored in Soldat\scenery-gfx

* Don't use huge images. Better stick to max 800x800 or cut bigger images to smaller parts.
*Better use .png format for yours sceneries, it support compression and transparency layer, also you can use options to index color palette in your image(but dont use indexing with image that have transparent part).
*Soldat support smooth transparency, but its better to use standard lime color(#00ff00)LIME as a background color.
Note: You can use trick to index your image colors to eg 250, save it, and then again open,
set to full color and fill lime color again to #00FF00 color,
sometimes you can change size of your scenery from 200KB to even 80KB without loosing quality and transparency.
*Remember to name your sceneries using type of image(crate, box, car etc) with numbers or your nick. Its sometimes annoying to have in your scenery-gfx folder 100 images named dick0222.png or 000000000000012.png
*Try to use as less sceneries as possible. You can merge few sceneries to one image, check our [[Advanced Mapping Tutorial|Advanced Mapping Tutorial]] to learn more.

There are at maximum four teams in total with color representation: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and Delta.

*Stick together: If you want to win a teammatch game, stick together with your teammates. Not too close or you're an easy target, but at a distance where your friends can cover your back.
*The higher your team spawns on the map, the better. Attacking from a higher position has a lot of advantages.
*It's important to remember that in TeamMatch, it's not just your life that you're taking care of. Watch over your teammates and help keep them alive. I'm not saying sacrifice yourself to save your friend(though you're welcome to try), but keep an eye on them.
