----
Soldat? What is this?
Soldat is a unique side-view multiplayer action game. It takes the best from games like Liero, Worms, Quake and Counter-Strike and gives you fast action gameplay with tons of blood and flesh. Soldiers fight against each other on 2D battle arenas using a deadly military arsenal.

It was made by Michal Marcinkowski back in (need reference). First public beta saw daylight in 09.05.2002 with number 0.9.4b.
Michal has promised to release Soldat as open source if he ever stops working on it himself (roughly estimated at around 2008 or later). But after few years of his small activity on Soldat(due to work on other game, KAG) this idea was abandoned, and Soldat was taken over the wings of few community members that work for free to keep this game alive.

:original author: Iq Unlimited
:core version: 2.6.5
----

;Description
:GunGame Script Version 1.3. The Game mode is from Counter-strike and the idea is not original or in any way mine. How it's played:

You start with a predesignated weapon, say, desert eagles, and you can only use desert eagles. When you kill a person with those desert eagles you get another gun, say, Mp5, and you have to kill someone with that gun to get another gun. Once you have gone through all 14 guns you win, providing you are the first to go through all 14 guns. This script is best played in r/s, but it can be played on pretty much any gamemode.
;Description
:Pirates vs. Ninjas was originally made by GNintendo, in it Alpha are
pirates with guns, and bravo are ninjas with only knifes, infinite
predator, and health regeneration. I had his permission to create my
own version of this script, and since he has not logged in in over a
month and he never released his, i think it is appropriate to release
this. I will take it down if he requests.
;Features list
:- Brute Force vs Stealth Mode
:original author: DarkCrusade
:core version: 2.7.5
----

;Description
:Ever felt like your server is overrun by barretards, tubers and campers? I feel your pain, and I got just the right thing to get your server back on track! This script will automatically disable the weapon of your desire for all respawning players if living players of his team already surpass the maximum amount. For example, player A is respawning, and because player B and player C already use a Barret, it will be disabled in player A's menu. He will get a backup weapon instead, which you can choose yourself in the settings file.

;Features list
:Complete control over the amount of weapons in every team.
:Backup weapons are handed to those who end up with no primary weapon due to limits.
:Works in every gamemode (CTF/DM/TDM/INF/etc.)
:Settings can be easily modified in a text-file which is automatically created
:Settings can be modified while the script is running. See below for a list of commands.

Note: 1) Start your server once, running this script.
2) Wait until the message box is displayed.
3) Shut the server down and open the settings.
4) Change the settings to your liking (all options are explained there).

;Commands list
:/settings - Display all the settings. Works in game and in admin tools.
:/save - Save current settings.
:/mod <weapon> num <amount> - Change max amount of target weapon per team.
:/mod <weapon> limit <1/0> - Change weapon's limit 0: off - 1: on.

Sceneries are purely aesthetic part of Soldat, but they can be used in creative ways to alter gameplay. For instance, it can be placed in front of everything to obscure a hiding place or camouflage a player, or it can be used as a signal where colliders are(sandbags, box etc).

Scenery can also be manipulated inside the various Mapping Tools in many ways. The modifications you can make are: dimensions, color, transparency, and rotation, as well as whether the scenery is in front of everything, behind everything, or behind the map but in front of the player.
Basic rules of using Sceneries
Before you start working on your first map, you should remember about few things:
* Don't use huge images. Better stick to max 800x800 or cut bigger images to smaller parts.
*Better use .png format for yours sceneries, it support compression and transparency layer, also you can use options to index color palette in your image(but dont use indexing with image that have transparent part).
*Soldat support smooth transparency, but its better to use standard lime color(#00ff00)<span style="color:#00FF00; background:#00FF00">LIME</span> as a background color.
Note: You can use trick to index your image colors to eg 250, save it, and then again open,
set to full color and fill lime color again to #00FF00 color,
sometimes you can change size of your scenery from 200KB to even 80KB without loosing quality and transparency.
*Remember to name your sceneries using type of image(crate, box, car etc) with numbers or your nick. Its sometimes annoying to have in your scenery-gfx folder 100 images named dick0222.png or 000000000000012.png
*Try to use as less sceneries as possible. You can merge few sceneries to one image, check our Advanced Mapping Tutorial to learn more.

TeamMatch or Team DeatchMatch (TM, TDM)

The goal in this gamemode is for your team to have the most kills. The team score is the sum of the kills by all players in one team. You do not get scores for killing your teammates (if friendly fire is on).

There are at maximum four teams in total with color representation: <span style="color: red">Alpha</span>, <span style="color: blue">Bravo</span>, <span style="color: #FFD700">Charlie</span>, and <span style="color: green">Delta</span>.

TIPS
*Stick together: If you want to win a teammatch game, stick together with your teammates. Not too close or you're an easy target, but at a distance where your friends can cover your back.
*The higher your team spawns on the map, the better. Attacking from a higher position has a lot of advantages.
*It's important to remember that in TeamMatch, it's not just your life that you're taking care of. Watch over your teammates and help keep them alive. I'm not saying sacrifice yourself to save your friend(though you're welcome to try), but keep an eye on them.

DeathMatch (DM).
As the name implies, is a gamemode in which the sole purpose is to take one's life in favor of your game score. Often renowned for its brutality and harshness, many players are frightened by it. Others see it as a cheap way to embark into the world of mindless slaughter and mayhem. Organizations such as PANSY (Parents Acting in the Name of Siblings and Youngsters) frown upon acts of deathmatch and what it stands for.

The default rules are as follows:

*Victory kills: 30, however, the server might change this setting to a number greater than or less than 30. Once this number is reached one can claim victory over the other players, sometimes even accommodated with taunts such as Owned, Pwnd, U suck, I win and There is only 1 person left to kill; Grit
*Points per kill: 1, but in game modes such as PointMatch this number is doubled when a player obtains the yellow flag.
*Time limit: The time limit is defined by the server. When it is reached and no player has the amount of kills needed to claim victory, the player with the highest amount of kills is claimed victorious.
*Respawns: Unless in survival mode, the player is respawned after a certain amount of time after his death.

*Advance mode

But thanks to game community and scripts, after a while few new game modes show up, that have strong positions in Soldat even today. Few of them even manage to beat few standard modes thanks to their fresh ideas and good Modding community behind it.

Story of Soldat Script Core
The Soldat Server Scripting Core was programmed by EnEsCe to help other users creating scripts for their server.
It use the Pascal coding language with Events, Functions and Variables. You can find list of this coding part here.

----
Quick look at Pascal language
In quick glance, Pascal is quite useful and easy to manage compared to eg. C and C++ languages.
Its use words (e.g. begin-end, if-or) instead of symbols ({-}) used in C/C++ so its easier to read. For basic script its doesn't need much work, most of text you can copy/paste, and its have very clear structure:
CONST
();
VAR
();
FUNCTION/PROCEDURE();
BEGIN
();
END;

Another big plus of Pascal is its speed. Pascal compiler is lightning-fast and well-suited for teaching programming, you can do more in small time frame.
Also there is less overhead and fewer ways for a new users to crash program. So as a first program language, Pascal its probably best choose.
Even when world is filled with C++ and Java languages, Pascal, in his simplicity, is still one of the best programing language: Powerful and easy to handle.
